Bubblegum Doomsday
An equity investment in independent cinema
"The world ends in eighty years. Everyone knows. Nobody cares anymore. Except Dub Dixon."
A film about the end of the world that makes you glad to be alive. Shooting summer 2027 in Louisiana.
Bubblegum Doomsday is a dark comedy feature written and directed by Jan Winters, produced by Toby Nichols, Jan Winters, and Riley J. Butcher.
If you haven't seen the vision deck yet, start there. It covers the story, characters, and the visual world of the film: moonmustdie.com/bubblegum-doomsday.
Our Track Record
This is the same team working at a larger scale. Our expertise is in practical effects and handmade sets on minimal budgets.
Jan Winters is a writer, director, and editor based in Los Angeles.
- Plastic Cowboy (2026). This short is the clearest preview of the tone, vibe and visual world of Bubblegum Doomsday.
- Captain Bartleby Loves the Moon (2024). Another example of writing impossible sequences and then making it happen.
- Bubblegum Blast-Off!! (2023). This is the story at its core, but the feature is an ensemble piece, with the stakes, scale, and energy turned up to a billion.
Bubblegum Doomsday is that same approach with a real budget behind it.
This isn't a pitch you have to take on faith. Watch Plastic Cowboy. Show it to someone who's never heard of this project and ask if they'd want to see more. Their reaction will tell you everything you need to know.
What Is Already In Place
Here is where the film stands today.
Louisiana's film incentive program is a core part of how this budget is built. Structuring production in-state is intended to make every dollar invested go further than it would elsewhere.
Where the money goes: cast and crew, locations, sets and practical effects, production and post, and the marketing/festival campaign that follows.
Because this is a handmade movie, a lot of the work happens before we ever call action: sets, props, practical effects, and costumes built specifically for this film. We're documenting that process now, with a dedicated social media team planned to release behind-the-scenes material consistently through the year leading up to production. The goal is an audience already watching by the time cameras roll, which also strengthens our position when we approach distributors.
From there the path is straightforward. Finish the film with a careful edit, tour festivals to build interest, then sell to a distributor for a nationwide theatrical release. That is the target and we are not aiming lower.
We also intend to book the film into local theaters ourselves and sell tickets directly while it tours. After the costs of those bookings, that revenue would reach the collection account before any distribution sale closes, rather than after it.
The Investment Structure
General Offering Terms
The following reflects general offering terms for non-accredited investors. Actual terms will be finalized in your investment agreement.
Revenue from distribution would flow to a collection account. From that account:
- Distribution and third-party costs would be paid first
- Collection account management fees
- Guild residuals would be set aside
- Agent and distributor fees
- Investor capital would be repaid
- A premium would be paid on your investment
- Remaining net profits would be shared between the production and investors, with the split set out in your investment agreement
You would receive quarterly accounting statements for 18 months after the first distribution deal, then semi-annual statements. You would have audit rights and full visibility into reported revenue.
Risks
Film investment is speculative. Only invest money you can afford to lose completely.
- Total Loss. There is no guarantee of return. You could lose your entire investment.
- Illiquid. You cannot sell or cash out your stake.
- Production Risk. Films face budget overruns, scheduling delays, and unexpected costs that reduce profitability.
- Market Risk. Revenue depends on audience reception, distributor performance, and market conditions - all unpredictable.
Before You Reach Out
Most of what people ask is answered here. If your question is not, email us.
Can I invest if I am not accredited?
Yes. This offering is structured for non-accredited investors. You do not need to meet an income or net worth threshold to take part. The specific requirements that apply to you would be set out in your investment agreement.
How much can I invest?
Investment starts at $10,000. There is no upper limit, and larger positions are welcome.
Your capital would be returned before net profits are shared, with a premium paid on top of it. The premium that applies to your investment would be set out in your investment agreement.
Investors at $100,000 and above are invited to visit the set during production and to attend the premiere.
When would I see any money back?
This takes years, and we want to be upfront about that. Filming is planned to be in the summer of 2027, followed by post-production and a festival run.
What we can tell you is how we intend to work. We are not going to make this film and walk away from it. While we pursue distribution deals, we will keep the film in front of audiences through festivals, direct theater bookings, and targeted releases. That work will run parallel to our distribution efforts, ensuring the film stays alive, continues reaching audiences, and generates revenue toward investor repayment. The producers will not take payment until investors have been paid back. The risks above are real, and we will not pretend otherwise. Nobody is going to work harder at this than we will.
What if you do not raise the full amount?
The film gets made. We have already begun raising money and putting the pieces in place, so this is not a project waiting for funding to decide whether it exists. The only question is how far we can take it. Your investment is what allows us to make the film at the scale and quality we are aiming for.
We budget against what has actually been raised and do not commit to costs we cannot cover. That is why the three films above exist and were finished rather than abandoned.
Our target is $500,000. The critical threshold is $300,000. That qualifies us for Louisiana's film incentive program, which significantly increases how much of each dollar reaches the screen. Raising above that mark lets us realize the full vision. We budget to the capital we've actually raised.
Ready to Invest?
Every film carries those risks. What can be controlled, we have controlled. The script is written, the team is assembled, Louisiana is locked, and everyone is excited and working. Production begins summer 2027, and we budget to the capital we've actually raised.
